REGIONAL HISTORY MUSEUM
Inaugurated in 1988 by the state government and the inah, this museum exhibits in its nine rooms an important collection that allows to go through the history of Aguascalientes from prehistory to the present, highlighting a paleontological sample of the region and diverse pieces of archaeological and colonial ceramics , a small collection of objects from the Revolutionary Convention of 1914 and personal articles by Manuel M. Ponce.
MUSEUM OF AGUASCALIENTES
Built by architect Reyes Refugio, this beautiful building was the headquarters of the Normal School from 1915 to 1974. In 1975 it became a museum to commemorate the fourth centenary of the city’s foundation. In its halls the work of outstanding artists can be seen, such as the engraver Francisco Díaz de León, the sculptor Jesús Contreras and the painters Gabriel Fernández Ledesma and Saturnino Herrán, all of them from Aguascalientes.
CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM
The old warehouse “El Número 8”, located in Primo Verdad, corner with Morelos, in the city of Aguascalientes, is currently the headquarters of the most representative of contemporary plastic art in Mexico. The Museum of Contemporary Art also has spaces for temporary exhibitions.
MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
This innovative interactive museum, located in a spiral-shaped building, is located on San Miguel Avenue, in Jardines de Aguascalientes, on the outskirts of the city. It represents an excellent opportunity to approach science and technology to discover the mysteries of the universe and the earth, as well as to have a global vision of the environment that surrounds us and of the possibilities of our development as a species. The museum has one of the three most sophisticated screens in Mexico, where the most modern cinematograph is projected.
MUSEO JOSÉ GUADALUPE POSADA
Adjacent to the Encino temple, this museum exhibits the regional work of the famous engraver whose themes alluding to the Revolution constitute an extraordinary festive critic of his time. In the central courtyard of this beautiful building, every Sunday there are artistic events with the participation of the Cultural Institute of Aguascalientes and various independent groups.
TAURINO PATIO DOMECQ MUSEUM
In two rooms a great variety of objects related to bullfighting art is exhibited, such as paintings, posters, photographs, sculptural miniatures, horns’ heads, marking irons, death masks of matadors and riding capes, among others.
