GET TO KNOW THE STATE OF GUERRERO MEXICO

Guerrero is a state on Mexico’s Pacific coast.

The resort city of Acapulco, set on a large bay backed by high-rises and the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains, is known for its high-energy nightlife and beaches along Acapulco Bay and the Acapulco Diamante area.

Performers dive daily from iconic La Quebrada cliff into a small cove.

The hilltop Fuerte de San Diego, a fort with a history museum, overlooks the old town.

Glass-bottomed boats sail past La Virgen de los Mares, an underwater statue, on their way to Isla de la Roqueta.

The island has a lighthouse with bay views and reefs for snorkeling and diving. Galleries and alfresco restaurants line the winding lanes of Zihuatanejo, a resort northwest of Acapulco.

The neighboring upscale resort of Ixtapa is popular for golf, fishing and water sports off huge El Palmar Beach, plus swimming with dolphins at the Delfiniti Ixtapa center.

Nearby Barra de PotosĂ village offers boat trips around a bird-rich lagoon and out to the granite rocks of Los Morros de PotosĂ, a diving destination.
